Choral music for New Year
Between Christmas and Epiphany comes the New Year. The church celebrates these twelve days as “holy days” with the celebrations of New Year’s Eve on 31 December, and New Year’s Day. This festival is based on the traditions described in the Gospel of St Luke. The feast is intended to convince those who deny the incarnation through the act of circumcision that Jesus is also a “real person”. Following the reorganization of the church year in 1969, the Catholic church celebrates 1 January as the Feast of God’s Mother Mary.
