Organ arrangements

With its extensive sound palette, the organ is ideally suited for performing compositions written for other instruments, putting them in a new light. It seems natural, for example, to perform pieces by Mozart and Beethoven for musical clock on the organ. But piano pieces from Bartók’s Mikrokosmos and slow movements from Beethoven’s piano sonatas also gain new appeal through being played on the organ. Orchestral works such as Elgar’s Enigma Variations are a marvellous addition to the organ repertoire. And last but not least, famous classical hits from opera and the concert hall, such as Offenbach’s Barcarole, Vivaldi’s Spring, Wagner’s Wedding March, and Gounod’s Ave Maria offer highly effective repertoire for organ concerts.
