Step by step

Step by step - a short introduction for the new browser-based version of carus music

At home and out and about: Your choral works will always be with you to practice! With carus music, the Choir Coach, you can follow the music whilst listening to a top-class recording on your smartphone, tablet or PC, and easily practice your own choral part with the help of a coach. With carus music, your concert preparation will be easy and efficient to master – and fun! By the way: An installation is not necessary, because the app runs in all current browsers.

To use the app, you need a customer account (with email address and password) in our webshop. So if you already have a customer account, you can start right away. Log in at https://carus-music.carus-verlag.com with the same email address and password as in our webshop. No customer account available yet: Click here to register.

Try it out!

On the start page of the app you will find a library of important choral works, from which you can conveniently search for your desired work and select it with a click. For (almost) every work, a demo version is available free of charge for testing. Select your desired voice range and download the preview. After downloading the preview, you can try out all the functions of carus music, the Choir Coach, using one work part.

Buying works

If you want to purchase a work in its entirety, click on "Buy". You will then be redirected to the Carus webshop, where you can complete the purchase. Please make sure that you use the same customer account for the purchase in the webshop and the use of carus music (see above "Log in").

My works

You will then find your purchased work in your customer account in the webshop under the tab "My carus music works", from where you can return to the app with one click. The link in the (second) e-mail you receive after purchasing a carus music work also takes you directly to the app. In the app itself, you will find your purchased work in the "My works" section. With a click, you can now download your purchased work and then open it.

Let's start: Experience magnificent choral music

The clear-to-read music text in carus music is based on Carus Verlag 's Urtext editions. The app combines original vocal scores from Carus with complete recordings by top artists such as Frieder Bernius, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Philippe Herrewege, and René Jacobs. An entirely new experience in seeing, hearing, and learning music. With the animated cursor, it is easy for even inexperienced choir singers to follow the music in the vocal score.

Practice your own part

With the coach, your own part is played on the piano, just as in a choir rehearsal. You practice your own part within the overall texture of choir and instruments. For difficult passages slow mode is available. Here the coach slows down the tempo to 70%. You can learn complicated passages quickly, reliably and with much enjoyment.

Navigate

You can jump directly to any point in the work, and play it. To do this, use the scroll function to the left and right of the play button or swipe on your mobile device to turn the page. Tap with your finger or click with the mouse on the desired location. Of course, you can also use the navigation in the sidebar to jump to specific parts of the work or to special pages that are identical to your printed vocal score.

Practice offline

You do not necessarily have to be permanently online to practice! After you have completely downloaded the work and the "Open" button has appeared, it is also available to you offline for practicing. Stay logged in to carus music and do not log out. Once you are offline, you can open the app as usual via the link https://carus-music.carus-verlag.com and find your purchased works under "My works". Click on the corresponding work and your purchased voice part. The message "No internet connection!" will now appear, but the "Open" button will still be available and the practice help can be used as usual.

Tip: For easy access to carus music, you can easily set up a bookmark or "start button" on your screen. You can find out how to do this on the various devices directly in our FAQ in the app (question no. 23).

Important to know: For offline use, use the same browser with which you downloaded the requested work (but this can be closed in between without any problems). Another requirement for offline use is that cached web content / cache data is not deleted when the browser is closed. Please check this in the settings of your browser if necessary.

All data required in order to run the work within the app is located in the database of the respective browser. Please note that this data cannot be copied by yourself to other devices or in other browsers.

Repertoire

More than 100 major choral works by Monteverdi, Schütz, Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Verdi, and Puccini are already available. Important works are constantly being added to the library.
