Mass in D major
Albrechtsberger set the Ordinary of the Mass in two forms: with and without instruments. The latter ("alla capella") does not mean that no instruments were to be used, but that these works are "without independent instrumental parts". The Mass in D major, here published for the first time, is an "alla capella" mass in the above sense.

Chorknabe am Stiftsgymnasium Melk, ab 1755 Organistenämter in Raab (Ungarn), Maria Taferl (Niederösterreich) und Melk, ab 1768 Organist und Orgelbauer in Wien. Sein umfangreiches kompositorisches OEuvre umfasst Kirchenkompositionen, Orchester- und Kammermusik sowie Werke für Tasteninstrumente. Er trat auch als Verfasser musiktheoretischer Schriften hervor.
