Ulrike-Anima Mathé
Personal details
Born in Germany, Ulrike-Anima Mathé is a familiar figure on the international concert platform both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. She studied with Françoise Zöldy in Basel, Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York, and Tibor Varga in Detmold. Sándor Végh, György Sebök and Rudolf Serkin further contributed to her musical training. Her artistic career was launched through international awards like the First Prize at the 1985 European Violin Competition in Vienna, First Prize at the 1986 German Music Competition in Bonn, First Prize at the 1988 Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York, and two awards, including Audience Prize, at the 1989 Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels. As a soloist she has performed with the Czech Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Weimar Staatskapelle, and the orchestras of Polish and Hungarian Radio. She has made guest appearances in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Stuttgart Liederhalle, Salzburg Mozarteum, Zurich Tonhalle, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Kennedy Center in Washington, and Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also taken part in the Berlin and Lucerne Festivals, the Schwetzingen Festival, and the international chamber music festivals of Lockenhaus, Hitzacker and Ittingen. Ulrike-Anima Mathé is a member of the "Ulysses" ensemble, which was founded in 2005 and specializes in modern music. Since 1999 she has been a violin professor at the Detmold Musikhochschule.
