The chorus stands at the heart of Brahms’s universal commemoration of the dead. Smaller choirs and choirs with limited resources of space or finance can also perform this popular work in the chamber version.

Among Bruckner's mass settings, the one in D minor is the easiest for choir singers to rehearse. The Mass is one of the first works by Bruckner in which his characteristic symphonic style is evident.

  • Dvorák: Mass in D major

The lyrical-meditative Mass can also be performed in an arrangement for wind quintet. The organ version by Dvorák himself is also available.

  • Fauré: Requiem

Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is the key work among the French master's sacred compositions. The work is available from Carus in three versions: the “symphonic version” completed in 1900 and a reconstructed version with small orchestra from 1889, as well as an arrangement for soloists, choir and organ.

Soon after its completion, Schumann described this work as the "highest level that he \[Mendelssohn] has achieved as a composer of church music, indeed the highest level that modern church music has ever reached". Outre le complément d'Arman et la version historique de Süßmayr, Carus propose également la version très demandée de Robert D. Levin. Chacune offre une perspective différente sur le génie du siècle qu'est Mozart et son dernier opus.

The version completed by Frieder Bernius and Uwe Wolf aims to make a performance possible whilst maintaining the greatest respect for the extant material, and without obscuring Mozart’s musical manuscript with their own contributions.
