The popular series "Musik für Blockflöte" (Music for Recorder) has been continued in the last years with numerous highly interesting new discoveries. Some of the works from the Flauto e voce series have now appeared on CD, the theme here being Baroque bird arias and love songs from Germany, England, France and Italy as performed by the Collegium "Flauto e voce" with its founder Peter Thalheimer and the singers Susan Eitrich and Ute Kreidler. As can be discerned from the variety of arias on this recording, the imagination of the poets was as boundless as that of the composers. In its proximity to human as well as bird song, but especially in the simple beauty of its sound, the recorder appealed immediately to listeners of yore as much as it appeals to today's listeners.

| 1946Peter Thalheimer studied recorder, flute (with Prof. Hartmut Strebel) and school music in Stuttgart. He completed his musicological studies with a doctorate at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität of Tübingen. He has taught in Nuremberg since 1978, and is currently professor of historical performance practice and recorder/transverse flute at the Hochschule für Musik Nuremberg. Concerts, radio and recording productions, courses and lectures he has given have taken him throughout Europe and the USA. In addition, his work has resulted in numerous music editions, as well as publications on performance practice, the study of instruments and on woodwind technique. An extensive collection of historical and modern flutes and recorders forms the basis for this work. Personal details

Susan Eitrich
The soprano Susan Eitrich studied singing with Richard Wistreich at the Institute of Early Music attached to Trossingen Musikhochschule. A diploma was followed by further studies which she completed with honors. She also attended master courses given by Richard Levitt, Emma Kirkby, Jill Feldman and others. In 2001 she was awarded a first prize at the Gorizia (Italy) singing competition. As well as performing extensively in oratorios and cantatas, Susan Eitrich gives song recitals.
